The social Affairs Committee of the belgian Federal Parliament adopted a draft law to grant paternity leave to homosexual women whose partner has just given birth to a child.
Good news for gay couples ! In Belgium, the Commission of social Affairs of the Federal Parliament adopted the draft law of mp Sonja Becq, aimed at granting the equivalent of paternity leave to homosexual women whose partner has given birth to a child. They will be able to take ten days off in the four months that follow the birth of the child.
Note that, in Belgium, same-sex couples can already marry since 2003 and adopt a child since 2006. The country now plans to allow gay people the recognition of the child at its birth, in the same way that fathers recognize their babies.
