The engine of the future business jet of Dassault Aviation, the 5X, is it cursed? According to the CEO of the company, Eric Trappier, Safran has met with new difficulties, to develop the Silvercrest. “We have new concerns about the development of the engine, revealed Eric Trappier at the occasion of the exhibition of business aviation to Las Vegas. Saffron has just informed us that the current trials have revealed performance problems with the high pressure compressor”.
A new delay for the 5X
What will be the consequences of this new hazard in the development of the Silvercrest? “We have not yet analyzed all the consequences of this new but already we know that the entry-into-service of the 5X (…) will have to be delayed again, said the CEO of Dassault Aviation. It’s going to take a few more weeks to measure all the consequences of this very unfortunate situation and take the adequate measures”. It is a new blow to Dassault Aviation, which had relied heavily on the 5X to start. This new device was expected to be in service in 2020, instead of 2017.
The Falcon 5X has performed its first flight on July 5. The first engine with all the corrections, is currently being tested by Saffron-ground and in-flight on a plane in our test bench for this year. These tests were the pre-campaign integration in 2018. “Saffron puts on the watt in the last two years”, was, however, explained Eric Trappier last march.
