Taxify lands in France, will he kill Uber ?

The war is declared ! Taxify lands in France… This start-up Estonian does not pay mine with his young CEO at just 23 years old, and yet she wants neither more less than to break the market to Uber.

It is this Thursday, October 5, at 10 am that the platform VTC Taxify will be enabled to Paris. The main novelty lies in particular in the commission taken on the race to the driver who will be only 15%, against 25% for Uber. For the VTC, the arrival of Taxify is excellent news, it will help put Uber in competition where he was in a situation of quasi-monopoly.

A regulatory complex

The arrival of Taxify happens in a regulatory context, the French particularly complicated. Major platforms VTC is concerned about the application of the law Grandguillaume, which requires drivers to complete a specific training indispensable to the license, VTC, and this, from the 1st January next. However, this training is sanctioned by an examination which proves to be difficult. Operators are concerned that 40% of drivers VTC French will be deprived of the right of use on the 1st January. The platforms will then have to battle to retrieve the drivers that will be on the market again. Taxify think you have a major competitive advantage with this commission of 10 percentage points lower than that of Uber and have a fleet of VTC more important. According to Taxify, thousands of drivers have already downloaded the application.

The secret of Taxify lies in the very great frugality of its economic model. With only 170 employees, the company founded in 2013 is already implemented in 18 countries including the eastern Europe, but also in Asia, Africa and even Mexico. It has almost 2.5 million users.

The war Didi-Uber in the background…

Behind Taxify, it is mainly the arrival of Didi’s happening because the powerful chinese platform is entering the capital of a start-up in estonia last August. Didi is much more important than his young rookie, since he claims nearly 400 million users. For Taxify, a such ally is strategic, as it constitutes a lever of financing, but it could also prove to be a source of technologies including artificial intelligence. Didi, he said, wants to position itself as the main competitor of Uber that he was ousted from China in 2016 by purchasing the activities of the American, leaving the last 20% of its capital…
